I am Alessandro Stanganini and with my brother Stefano we inherited our father’s craftsmanship who had already continued the business started by our grandparents in 1932, here in Florence. It was natural for us to continue this family tradition, working as we have seen done since we were children and what we have been taught. In the repeated movements there is the feeling of being able to crystallize time and the illusion of having the same ability as those who preceded us. Even though today we are in the so-called “digital” era, manual work is still something closely linked to the nature of man and makes him feel good; I think about gardener’s satisfaction who sees his flowers bloom or that of a restorer who brings an old piece of furniture back to a new-found splendor, the pleasure of seeing something transforming in your hands. The flexibility in the work typical of an artisan reality allows us to get in touch with people with different needs who ask for an answer to their requests: this often offers the opportunity to create a cordial relationship with the customer driven by the common passion for fabrics, silk, ties, or scarves, foulards or papillons, that’s why my brother and I equally love to talk and match to customer or choose the fabrics for the collections, change the colors, try to imagine which combinations to create, even with original, apparently unorthodox solutions.
